‘Pitch’ episode 7 Preview: Ginny’s photo aftermath
Part of the secret to the sauce within Fox’s “Pitch” is that this is a show where you get to either spin common sports scandals on their head, or conjure up new ones that expose deeper cracks within society. On next week’s new episode “San Francisco,” one of them could be the latter after Ginny’s decision to take some particularly-racy photos that find their way across the internet.
In a vacuum, this feels like zero deal whatsoever. They’re just photos, and they’re certainly not hurting anyone. Given that we live in a world where so many pro athletes, just like many other people, do unspeakable things, doing something like this feels like it should be the least of anyone’s concern. It’s too bad that this isn’t the sort of world this is, given that about three million blogs are going to go nuts over this presumably to go along with many people harshly criticizing her and displaying their sexism for all to see. There’s a reason that the concept of “man-splaining” is brought up in the promo below; it happens. Ginny’s going to have to find a way to confront this, but judging from the synopsis below, she’ll have a little bit of help:
“Tensions fly when Livan Duarte is brought up to catch against San Francisco and Mike is moved to first base. Meanwhile Amelia and Oscar work together to combat the latest scandal involving Ginny.”
Like we mentioned, the Padres got far more important things to worry about. If this somehow becomes a big deal beyond what we see on “San Francisco,” we’d be surprised. Just look at how many athletes take part in the Body Issue over on ESPN. Is that brought up longer than a day or two, when everyone then starts to move on? We’ll see what the larger ramifications of this are — provided that there even are any. The show’s just making it out to be son in the promo.
