‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 3, episode 7: Wes and the most-important thing

Wes -What matters most coming out of Thursday night’s “How to Get Away with Murder” episode? It’s a worthy debate from a viewing perspective when you want to look at stories as black and white. Are we meant, as viewers, to leave an hour of television pondering one singular question, and in the case of this said episode, what is that question meant to be?

There are two separate ways to look at the episode’s principal surprise, which featured Wes making an immunity deal with the District Attorney in a flash-forward to a time that has been teased on so many occasions already.

He’s betraying Annalise – This could be the nail in her coffin, and something that would sink her into a life of despair even further than anything that we’ve born witness to on the show to date. Through Wes, she’s seen either a mentee, a son, or a love interest, depending on your perception. To compare this to another primetime show, we see him and Annalise as almost the Liz Keen and Reddington of this show. They’re very alike in ways they may not always recognize, and they both have this survival gene that burns so strongly that occasionally they interpret its requests as an order to turn on one another.

From a purely micro perspective, this surprise is the biggest takeaway from the episode.

He’s still alive – From a macro point of view, this is obviously what ABC is going to promote with their whole “who is under the sheet?” drama they’ve cultivated for most of the season. We would argue that this is irrelevant since we never firmly believed that Wes would be a goner in the first place. he’s the show’s closest thing to a male lead, and the one person who’s got his hand in almost every cookie jar. He has one of the most intimate relationships with Annalise, he’s a part of the Keating 5, and has a devastating history all his own. All killing him would do is segment off various parts of the past.

Conclusively, think about the betrayal moving into next week. There are plenty of opportunities to discuss the death.
