‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’ episode 8 preview: The merge; Hannah’s revenge
Tonight, “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” brought us another Tribal Council, a chef visiting the Vanua tribe, and a moment or two where the show started to resemble “Two and a Half Men” (which famously featured a cameo from one Jeff Probst) with all of the burping and farting. This is a great season, and easily one of our favorite casts that we’ve seen on the show in some time.
This just in: We miss Michaela already. She was incredible in the short amount of time she was on this season.
Next week, we’re going to be arriving at yet another “Survivor” tradition: The merge! This is the first time ever that we’ve went from three tribes straight to one, and it’s only the second season after “Cambodia” that we’ve done so at thirteen. Still, there are so many colorful personalities left that it looks like we’ll have plenty of interesting players still fighting for the prize.
Interestingly, the promo that aired following tonight’s episode made it seem as though we are going right back to it being Millennials vs. Gen X, even though we had so many shifting dynamics previously. This may just be production condensing a complicated narrative into a few seconds, though. The main crux of the conflict seems to be Jay versus Hannah in the wake of what happened to Michaela, who was brutally blindsided in one of the greatest moments that we’ve ever seen at tribal council. Hannah wants vengeance for it, and maybe she’ll be able to rally some numbers. The problem she runs into is that Jay has an idol, and we’re not sure that she knows that. If she doesn’t, that could make it all the more challenging to keep this information from getting back to him.
Merge episodes are typically fantastic, but the show does have a really hard mountain to climb trying to top the amazingness that we saw at the end of the episode tonight. More blindsides like this, please!
