‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 8 spoilers: On Kensi’s road to recovery
At the end of this past episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” we had what we would personally consider to be a rather epic update to the relationship between Deeks and Kensi. After all, the Kensi finally woke up from her coma! The great news that goes along with that is that we’re going to have a chance to see these two start to make steps forward. However, the bad news that goes along with that is we’re not going to have a situation where Kensi is suddenly all better and the two are able to move forward with their lives like nothing happened. There are going to be some stumbling blocks, and Kensi’s recovery will take time, but with Deeks by her side we have to think that it should go pretty smoothly.
In speaking on this subject further to TV Guide, Eric Christian Olsen had the following to say about this story, which was brought on in many ways by the real-life pregnancy of his co-star Daniela Ruah:
“I know that it’s a long road to recovery for her. At the end of the day, I think we’re gonna get her back 100 percent physically, but there’s no way to go through these types of things unscathed as far as what it’s done to their psyche. When we look at those kind of events, when Deeks was tortured, how that affected him. We look at Kensi’s torture and how that affected her in Afghanistan. This is one more thing that will play a large role and, I think, drive these two characters together.”
Basically, be ready for the recovery to be rather slow, and we’re fine with that since it’s much more organic than what the majority of shows are doing right now. We are seeing a lot of characters going facing serious injury, only to then an episode or two later act as though nothing ever happened. We recently saw this on “Hawaii Five-0” where Steve was stabbed in the back and bleeding on the floor, to only be swimming around in a cavern without trouble an hour later with no medical attention.
How quickly do you want to Kensi back in action? Leave us a comment and tell us if you are happy with the slow recovery process.
