‘Elementary’ season 5, episode 4 video: More insight into 100th episode; plus, poo emoji
We know that Sherlock Holmes may be one of the greatest detectives who has ever lived, but what the latest sneak peeks for this weekend’s new episode of “Elementary” tell us above all else is that this is not a man altogether educated when it comes to emoji.
While the two sneak peeks below are tied almost entirely to the case of the week for the upcoming 100th episode, there is a pretty delightful moment in the first one in which Holmes is unable to recognize precisely what a poo emoji is. He refers to it instead as ice cream, which is strongly starting to make us thing that Sherlock is basically the equivalent to everyone’s grandparent when it comes to technology.
The disappointing aspect of these previews is that they don’t give you much of the spirit or sense of celebration that may be there for this milestone episode, and that is something we do in fact want to see. We know that a part of this could come via a storyline related to Captain Gregson, as he wants to ensure that Sherlock and Watson are included in a celebration commemorating the success of his unit. He knows that he would not have gotten to this place without him, and as a result of that, he of course wants to do his part in order to pay it forward.
While there many be some happy moments during this episode, we also do not get the sense that the show wants to change itself too much, either. Why would it? This is clearly already a series that knows rather well at this point precisely what it is that it does best, and that is tell compelling mystery stories that keep you hooked for the entirety of the hour.
