‘Poldark’ season 2, episode 8 preview: Ross, Demelza look at mine’s future
On Sunday night’s new episode of “Poldark,” we’re going to see Ross and Demelza continue to look further towards their future as a couple, and at the same time, their professional future with the mine. This has been a thorn in the side of our title character for most of the season; other than minor victories here and there, it has not turned the profit that he hoped for. Not only that, but there are many other bad memories that the two likely associate the mine with now, whether it be the death of Francis to pretty much anything pertaining to George.
The sneak peek below feels almost like a brief therapy session between Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson’s characters, one where he proclaims that he will not be guilty of such “recklessness” as they move forward now into the future.
As for whether or not that turns out to be the case with Ross, that remains to be seen. What we do like about this preview in particular, though, is that it serves as a further reminder of precisely what it is that we enjoy about this character. He’s someone who is extraordinarily flawed, and also knows that he is at the same time now. When he was younger, he envisioned Ross as the guy who could be a bull in a china shop and assume that nothing would somehow get broken; he’s now in a position where he recognizes that mistakes will happen, and he has to learn from them. The question is if he’s long to learn quickly enough that he spares his family from further problems. Our guess is no, mostly because Elizabeth still has that gravitational pull upon him, and his decision to give her shares in Wheal Leisure is one of the reasons for his present predicament.
Check back tomorrow, as we will have some further updates from this weekend’s installment.
