‘Masters of Sex’ season 4, episode 7 preview: The story of Bill and Dody
“Masters of Sex” routinely has a little bit of a struggle in terms of how much it wants to incorporate real life into its story, and at the same time, figuring out some of the right times in order to tell said stories. That is not always something that is an easy thing to figure out here given the splashes of originality the sprinkles in here and there.
Moving into Sunday’s episode, we’re going to see Dody Oliver play a little bit more of a role than we’ve seen on the show to date, and that’s important given that she was was not only Bill’s first love, but he ends up marrying her down the line after he and Virginia Johnson divorce. Beyond just the letters on this upcoming episode, it will be interesting to see how this story is integrated, coupled with everything else that is going on with the clinic and with Art and Nancy.
Synopsis (via TV Guide) – “Masters looks to groom Art as his protégé in a new area of research, while Johnson does her best to keep Nancy at arm’s length. Elsewhere, Betty seeks an unlikely source to assist in her fight for equal rights to Helen’s baby.”
Promo – This does a good job illuminating at least some of what the conflict is going to be, and a little bit in terms of what we’re building towards. We expect that there are going to be a few surprises in store for Bill and Virginia before we reach the end of the season, but it really seems like they are taking their time with the whole idea of a reconciliation. We understand that there is no reason for a hurry, but do you really want to keep things moving this slowly?
