‘Westworld’ episode 4 preview: On ‘Dissonance Theory,’ visions, and the park’s future

The further and further we travel into HBO’s “Westworld,” and the more likely it will be that the show and the theme park inside will continue to evolve. In some ways, progress is good; in other ways, it is explicitly dangerous. No matter whether you are human or AI, there is reason to fear moving into next week’s “Dissonance Theory.” There will be serious discussions in play regarding the park’s future, and in turn, a few welcome surprises could prove devastating.

Given that this is a reasonably-short season for the show, we have a feeling that every story is going to matter a great deal. Therefore, we’d pay attention closely to all you see in seven days’ time.

Synopsis – “Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) joins William (Jimmi Simpson) and Logan (Ben Barnes) on a bounty hunt in the badlands. The Man in Black (Ed Harris), with Lawrence (Clifton Collins, Jr.) in tow, finds a critical clue in his search to unlock the maze. Dr. Ford (Anthony Hopkins) and Theresa (Sidse Babett Knudsen) discuss the future of the park. Maeve (Thandie Newton) is troubled by a recurring vision.”

Promo – If you look at this below, you can see the maze as a central story-point. This is a chance to earn freedom, or at least the idea of freedom. What it truly represents may be something different. Much like with the synopsis, HBO is more intent on giving you tons of mini-teases here rather than any one thing that you can sink your teeth into, but if you’ve enjoyed much of everything that the show has had to offer so far, odds are that this will satisfy.
