‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2 spoilers: Will Flashpoint have an impact?

LegendsDuring Tuesday night’s new episode of “The Flash,” we learned that through one reason or another, Barry Allen going back in time caused enough of a rift in the “Arrow” universe to transform one of his children. Originally, John Diggle had a baby named Sara; now, he has a boy named John, and we already wonder if that changes the future of this child on “Legends of Tomorrow.” In the original timeline Diggle had a child named John down the road who ended up becoming Connor Hawke a.k.a. the new Green Arrow; will his arrival earlier in the timeline, and the apparent exit of Sara for now, change anything?

Unfortunately, it does seem as though “Legends” is planning to offer up an answer to that anytime soon — or really on any other Flashpoint changes, for that matter. Speaking on the subject to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim made it clear that there is no plan to really go out-there when it comes to alterations in the timeline, mostly because there’s already enough that is morphing and changing right now as it is:

“With Legends, it’s a bit of a trickier thing, because at least in the early going, it’s very confusing — or at least to me — to have the Legends operating with changing history on their side, and then dealing with someone else changing history on a different show. So, in the early going, you won’t see much of a connect-up with Flashpoint. That’s not to say that there won’t be some consequences to Flashpoint down the road.”

Given everything we’re anticipating through the early episodes of this coming season, we get the sense that there will be enough entertainment on the docket that you won’t be too upset about a lack of Flashpoint changes. With that being said, we do think it’d be smart to reference some sort of change on “The Flash” just to get people interested. with season 1 of “Legends” being so divided among fans, the show probably needs to do everything that it can in order to get people excited about what’s coming.

If there is one thing that we can do to get you a little more excited about the season, it’s this: Head over here, and take a look at what looks to be a super-promising trailer for some of the new episodes coming up. (Photo: The CW.)
