‘Supernatural’ season 12 spoilers: Show exec on multiple threats to Sam, Dean
With the twelfth season of “Supernatural” premiering tomorrow night on The CW, there are of course a multitude of questions, including just what could be the biggest threat standing in the way of the Winchesters’ happiness this time.
Last season, Sam and Dean were up against arguably one of their biggest threats to date in Amara. If you are facing off against someone is effectively the sister of God, there’s a reason to be afraid. We’re going a little smaller this time around, at least in terms of the fact that we’ve got Lady Toni Bevell and Lucifer out there. Neither one of them, at least for now, holds the entire world in their hands. Yet, executive producer Andrew Dabb makes it very clear per TVLine that they will still make their presence felt in an enormous way and impact the story dramatically as we get further and further along:
“They’re a threat. Lady Toni Bevell has got it in for our boys. But Lucifer is still out there, and whenever Lucifer’s on the playing field, it’s hard to think anybody is going to top him. Going into this season, it’s a dual-pronged approach. [Dean and Sam are] pulled in two different directions.”
There is, of course, a little bit of good news as well. As Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles each said in a recent CW video, Mary Winchester’s arrival will shake up the series in a fairly substantial way, and is going to give us a lot of new, interesting, and hopefully exciting dynamics. Maybe this will give them something more to fight for in the midst of getting themselves in a better position. There’ll also be a series of standalone episodes ahead (that is a staple of the show at this point), so be on the lookout for that.
Come back tomorrow, as we’ll have some further previews for what lies ahead. (Photo: The CW.)
