‘Supernatural’ season 12 video: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles on Mary Winchester’s arrival

The season 12 premiere of “Supernatural” is now only two days away from airing on The CW, and in honor of the occasion, the kind folks over at the network have unleashed their latest sneak-peek video. In this one, you can see stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles describe some of what is happening as we enter this episode, in particular the arrival of Mary Winchester.

The biggest change that comes with Mary being back happens courtesy of a shift in the family dynamic. Specifically, we’ve got a woman here who spent the past few decades gone from Heaven, and she will have a hard time wrapping her head around just how much is different in terms of her family. Her boys are now grown up, and are hunters in their own way just like she was. It’s been a long time since Sam and Dean were sons of anyone in the present-day world, and this gives them a chance to explore that once more.

As for however long this dynamic lasts, that remains to be seen. For the time being, we’re just happy to be having this particular experience with these characters, and are excited to find out where it leads. In some ways, maybe having another hunter around will be useful; the problem could come in how she is not entirely accustomed to their manner of doing things, and that could lead to some clashes along the way.

If there is one person she could have an unlikely-but-fond bond with, it’s Castiel. Both share something in common in that they spent many years in Heaven, and he may be better-equipped even than her children when it comes to getting her accustomed to this world once more.
