‘Arrow’ season 5 poster offers change of perspective

Poster -

The fifth season of “Arrow” is precisely two weeks away, and we know one thing about it right now: It’s easy to be excited! This is a show that is promising in some ways to go back to its origins, and that means darker, grittier storytelling that is more about people and less about super-powers. We have nothing against meta-humans, but they are better executed elsewhere for the most part.

One other theme that has been echoed around for some time with season 5 is legacy, and that is certainly the focus of the new poster above. It features Oliver Queen (now sporting sleeves once more — it gets cold up in Vancouver) and his signature bow preparing for battle once more — and we know that there are still threats. While we’re not sure we can call him precisely the Big Bad of the season just yet, we do know that Prometheus is the Big Bad for the time being. He’s someone with battle skills of his own, and a past that connects to Oliver’s in some potentially-intriguing ways.

Another way that the “legacy” component of the show could hold true is when it comes to Oliver’s new trainees — new heroes who are going to learn from the best when it comes to fighting crime, kicking butt, and hopefully staying on the straight and narrow. Wild Dog and Artemis are among the trainees, and you can also expect to see at the same time the evolution of Curtis Holt slowly into Mr. Terrific.
