‘Vice Principals’ season 2: When could Danny McBride – Walton Goggins series return?
Tonight, we are reaching the end of the road when it comes to “Vice Principals” on HBO, and that’s a sad thought. This is a show that has proven itself to be a laugh riot for most of the summer, and we will be the first to admit that we will miss some of these characters far more than we thought we would going into the start of the series. They are all certainly all kinds of weird and wacky, but there’s a surprising amount of heart within them, as well.
Luckily, we at least know that this isn’t the end of the road for the series as a whole! This show was only designed to run for 18 episodes across two seasons, and it was filmed accordingly. There’s no precise premiere date yet for the second half of the season, but we would guess at present that it will be on the air at some point in 2017. After all, HBO has set most of its lineup for the remainder of the year and the Walton Goggins – Danny McBride series is nowhere to be seen.
Beyond that, we know already that there are probably enough stories to tell with Neal Gamby and Lee Russell to last several years, but at the same time we respect the thinking that you don’t want to over-stay your welcome. Plus, McBride does tend to prefer the shorter-series model; he’s almost the American-TV version of Ricky Gervais in that regard. You enjoy a series while you have it, and then miss it once it is gone.
