Is ‘The Last Ship’ season 3 new tonight on TNT?

Last week, “The Last Ship” had an episode that proved itself to be intense, crazy, emotional, and everything in between. At the tail end of it, though, we saw a surprise like no other: Chandler making a move that will shake up the entire course of the series. He is no longer connected to the Nathan James, and there is clearly one question that almost every viewer has: What in the world is happening next? How does Tom move forward?

Unfortunately, you are going to be waiting for a while in order to see what transpires next. Last week was the season finale, which really should not come as much of a shock for one reason and one reason only: Typically, these shows do tend to save some of their best stuff for the closing minutes, and then leave you hanging for many months.

Production on the fourth season should be kicking off at some point in the (reasonably) near future, and while there is no firm premiere date just yet, our feeling at the moment is that season 4 will start back up in the summer. There’s that old saying of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and we do certainly feel as though that applies here. Why alter the course of things when there is no reason to? This is a show that already delivers some decent ratings as it is for TNT during that time, even if it was down compared to prior seasons.
