‘Shameless’ season 7 spoilers: First look at premiere episode

It feels like it’s been a little while since we’ve written about “Shameless” here at CarterMatt, but at the same exact time, the break’s actually been much smaller than usual. Typically, we have to wait until November or December to get details about the new season — think of this for the most part as a symptom of the series moving into the fall and switching places with “Homeland.”

What we’ve got for you now below, courtesy of SpoilerTV, are some of the first official details on the premiere episode entitled “Hiraeth” airing on October 2. For those wondering, Hiraeth is a word that translates, at least indirectly, to a sense of grief or longing for something that has gone by; in some cases, it could be interpreted to mean someone looking

“Frank wakes up after a month-long coma to find no one missed him. Worried she isn’t a good mother, Debbie takes a criminal approach to making sure Franny grows up wealthy. Meanwhile, Lip successfully completes rehab and is determined to stay “sober;” Carl looks into surgery after learning he’s the only uncircumcised brother; and Ian gets a bad feeling about Caleb’s friend Denise. Season premiere.”

What’s somewhat interesting about this synopsis is that despite playing such a critical role in the vast majoring of the last finale, there is no mention of Fiona in here. We’re hoping that we’ll see this character in particular in a little bit more of a stable place, and also single for a change after spending a good percentage of the series in oft-destructive relationships.
