‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8 promo: Ian Somerhalder’s Damon looks into darkness

With the final season of “The Vampire Diaries” premiering on The CW come Friday, October 21, we are very lucky to have something now that seems to be a long time coming: The first promo of some of the carnage ahead.

Before we get too much into what will happen, let’s start things off by discussing what has. At the end of season 7, we saw Damon and Enzo come out of the vault, which was in theory great news. On the other hand, what was not-so-great news after that was realizing just what sort of terrible shape the two guys were going to be in. They didn’t seem like themselves, almost like they were being controlled by some other entity.

Ultimately, it looks like you’re going to see a whole lot more of mystery and carnage judging from this promo. Damon is still going to feel the pull of whatever the force is that is haunting him, and of course we will see Stefan in part look to trying to help him out. The major thing that you do have to remember in the process of everything here is that there are other priorities for Stefan, and at this point, everyone probably needs to start looking forward to what their future could be beyond Mystic Falls and into their future. This is the final season, so this is the time where there needs to be some significant talk about legacy and looking towards the future.
