‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 2 ratings continue to slide

While “Fear the Walking Dead” has improved by leaps and bounds over the course of its time on the air, at the same exact time we do think its season 1 struggles, plus airing in the summer, are coming back to haunt it.

The ratings are in for this past new episode, and what the episode brought in was a series-low 1.2 in the key 18-49 demographic. For the record, this is dramatically lower than the 3.1 that the show drew at the start of season 2, and down from the 1.6 rating that the show drew for the midseason premiere. For the most part, you have to blame the show itself for its issues, since there is clearly something missing for most viewers; ratings don’t drop like that otherwise. With that being said, we do think that there is a certain percentage of people out there who are just suffering from some zombie fatigue in general, given the polarizing end to “The Walking Dead” season 6.

Now that we’ve said all of this, we don’t think that there is any cause for concern with the show. Quality-wise we think it’s strong enough now so that there won’t be too much viewer erosion; at the same time, there is already a season 3 on the roster. That means that we can relax and enjoy the show without as much of a cause for concern.

Of course, we do still want to see the ratings turn around, which is why our advice to many fans of the show out there is this: If you enjoy it, watch it live! Don’t let it continue to slide.
