‘Big Brother: Over the Top’ title of CBS All Access season; premiere date, more details
We knew that the upcoming digital-only CBS All Access season of “Big Brother” would not be a part of the same chronology as the flagship series, but now the network has taken t a step further and given us confirmation on one key thing: The show’s title and premiere date.
This show will be known as “Big Brother: Over the Top,” a reference both to the digital-only format (“over the top” is an expression used to identify online-only content) and also hopefully the nature of the show itself. The first episode will air Wednesday, September 28 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, with further episodes expected every week at the same time. Julie Chen will once again be on hand to produce.
The main difference between this and the flagship show, as executive producer Allison Grodner notes in a statement, is that there’s not going to be a need for shows beyond one a week given that everything else will be available for viewers to see:
“Not only will viewers get to see everything play out live, including ceremonies and competitions, the audience will also participate in the show like never before. Each week will offer unprecedented interactive opportunities that have an immediate impact on the game.”
As a longtime live-feed viewer, this is exciting. The question that we wonder right now is if some feedsters are going to be able to go back to the old way with blocks and Jeff Schroeder segments once they are used to having the full Power of Veto Competitions available to them on the feeds.
Ultimately, stock up on your sleep in between the end of this current season later this month and the start of “Over the Top.” You’ve got about a week.
