TV Quick Hits: ‘Jane the Virgin’ casts Eva Longoria; ‘Lucifer’ season 2 promo; Britney Spears biopic on Lifetime
Britney Spears biopic in works at Lifetime – We imagined that such a project would be coming at some point, and now it’s confirmed: Someone will try to create a TV movie out of the wild life of Britney Spears.
Per an announcement from the network, actress Natasha Bassett has been cast to play the role of the pop princess for a project that will chronicle her rise to stardom and some of the controversies that followed her, from failed marriages to public incidents. We have no idea as to whether or not this will be good (that’s always the case with Lifetime TV movies), but it should generate a lot of drama and discussion.
Just as a reminder, Britney’s Carpool Karaoke is going to be airing tonight on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” Let’s hope it goes better than it does for her in the teaser, where she lip-syncs her own song “Toxic.”

“Jane the Virgin” gets Eva Longoria – One year off of having Britney Spears make a guest appearance, the CW comedy now has landed another high-profile star in Eva Longoria. She confirmed the news in a post on Instagram, but there is not much in the way of news about her role as of yet. It’s certainly possible that she will just play herself.
Also, Longoria confirmed in a subsequent post that she will also be directing the episode.
“Lucifer” season 2 promo – It may be short, but it’s effective! It also gives you a quick look at Tricia Helfer playing the title character’s mom!
