‘The Last Ship’ season 3, episode 10 review: Tom Chandler makes his own orders
You know the saying “desperate times call for desperate measures,” right? Well, we are certainly in the midst of desperate times at the moment when it comes to “The Last Ship” on TNT, and that almost certainly does call for some desperate measures out of Tom Chandler.
So what exactly happened? Well, he decided to make his own move against the orders of the “government” (if you want to call them that at this point), and prepare for a showdown with Peng of his own doing. By far, this is the boldest move that we’ve seen him make, though it’s one that he ultimately had to knowing what he, Slattery, and the rest of the crew does. What other option did they have?
Unfortunately for Chandler, the problem that he does run into right now is one back at home, where Allison is fine to pressure President Oliver into issuing an arrest warrant. In general, she feels almost like “The Last Ship” version of Littlefinger in that she schemes a little behind the scenes, forges alliances, and finds a way to achieve her agenda. That’s what makes her such a dangerous opponent to our heroes.
As a whole, we’d consider this episode to be one of the better entries in the season so far. There was a ton going on in terms of action, drama, and of course alliance-shifting that dominated the story from start to finish. Are you ready for the finale to be here? We’re not, mostly because we wish the story could be going for at least another couple of months. Episode Grade: B+.
