‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’: When could cast reveal take place?
Let’s face it: This is a rough summer for competitive reality TV, given “Big Brother 18” has been for the most part a dud and there is not another great under-the-radar reality hit like “Whodunnit” or “The Quest.” We could use some more “Survivor” sooner rather than later.
Luckily, we are going to be getting in the fall both a new Australian version of the show and “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X,” the 33rd season of the franchise on CBS. The theme may seem a little bit derivative of what the show did in Nicaragua back in season 21, but at the same time, we don’t think the age divide is as big and we really take this more to mean a difference in philosophy just as much as we do a difference in age.
We know that a cast reveal will be coming in August / early September — but when? We’re looking more at “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” as a guide for figuring this out that last year’s “Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance,” given that this was a weird exception since everyone knew that cast in advance. For the sake of this season, you can probably expect some news by the time we get around to may August 29th or the 30th, given that “San Juan del Sur” was announced on the 27th, and it premiered a few days later in the year than even this season. We’re trying to be somewhat conservative with our estimate here, given that we don’t want to be disappointed.
What we are excited about is getting this season what is the first season in a long since, really since “Survivor: One World,” that gave us two tribes of all new players without any sort of significant gimmick like a blood vs. water. Take the “One World” gimmick out of it, and Nicaragua was the last time we had two tribes of new players who started out on different beaches.
