TV Friendships: What ‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7 can do with Danny, McGarrett
We’ve seen many super-dramatic, action-packed season finales over the years, but what made the one special for “Hawaii Five-0” season 6 was the personal touch. Seeing the journey of Danny and McGarrett to the point where Danny was willing to donate part of his liver to save his partner was something beautiful. Sure, the two may argue and bicker like something fierce, but this showed the respect and devotion that they have for each other.
Also, you gotta think that this could change something between the two of them moving forward in their relationship. As a part of the latest entry in our TV Friendships series, we’re excited to try and break down precisely what that could be.
Where they left off – We just summarized much of it, but these two capped off a season with everything from tragedy to triumph with Danny making a key decision to help Steve in the wake of a mass shootout and the end of Gabriel. The scenes in the hospital were touching, but not in a way that changed their characters or the dynamic that they’ve built up over time. This was smart for the writers to give us this moment, but not also warp the friendship with it.
Where they could go from here – What we want to see now, following a few standard Five-0 missions where Steve tries to pretend like nothing ever happened (he’s not the sort to bring this up often) is a chance for the tables to turn and him to do what he can in order to help Danny. Sure, they’ve worked to save each other a few times over, but there’s something different now thanks to the shared experience that they’ve had.
Also, we’re down for anything that either puts the two guys undercover, or isolates them without much in the way of communication with the rest of the team.
