‘Criminal Minds’ season 12 premiere: What should happen

Criminal Minds -On Wednesday, September 28 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, we’re going to see the twelfth season of “Criminal Minds” coming up on CBS. While we’re not entirely sure that we are coming off of the biggest cliffhanger in the history of the series, it is still one of the most interesting. It’s not often that you really see this show willingly dive into the past precisely as much as they did here. We’re talking bringing back old villains, and with Paget Brewster returning, a familiar face in Emily Prentiss will add to the nostalgia.

Below, we’re going to go into a little bit more detail on what could be coming in the episode, and also how we got here.

Where we left off – Thanks to Frances Fisher’s psychotic character, Hotch knew that that a “storm” was coming. That came in the form of former UnSubs escaping from prison, and going out to rage chaos into the world. While the team had some moments of peace with Rossi near the end of the season, that peace is clearly over.

What should happen – We know that the temptation is going to be there for the show to wrap things up quickly, but we almost hope that the first ten or so episodes are an arc all about bringing some of these people back, and how difficult that may be. These are criminals who now known what it means to get caught, and it raises the stakes. Hopefully, the show really uses that and comes up with a way to introduce Adam Rodriguez that feels organic, and not the show just squeezing someone in for the sake of doing so. It’s about balance. They did a great job with Aisha Tyler as Tara Lewis, so they’ve clearly got the capacity to make it happen.
