‘Homeland’ season 6 spoilers: Meet the female President-elect
It has been known for a good while now that the upcoming sixth season of “Homeland” would be featuring a female President-elect, and that the show would be set on the East Coast during that awkward period of transition from one President to the next.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former “House of Cards” and “Fargo” actress Elizabeth Marvel has been cast to play the part of Junior Senator Elizabeth Keane on the show, a smart, ambitious woman who is on her way to the Oval Office. We imagine that this name is not to be confused with Elizabeth Keen from “The Blacklist,” thought we would be very much intrigued to see how Carrie and Saul handle an impending battle with Raymond Reddington.
This is the first major new casting for the new season, which is starting filming a little bit later than some of the others. This is also the first season of the show to be airing in the early part of the year, which is due in part to a swap with “Shameless.”
Ultimately, we shall see precisely what happens with this show, but we do like the casting and we hope that there are some interesting, hyper-relevant issues that the series explores. Over the course of its run so far, one of the real hallmarks of “Homeland” has been its ability to be extremely current and at times even ahead of the curve with issues, even when that has not always been altogether easy to do.
