Stephen Colbert revives ‘Stephen Colbert’ character on ‘The Late Show’
Tonight, fans of Stephen Colbert had an even bigger treat than what they were expecting on “The Late Show“; not only did they have a chance to see an appearance from Jon Stewart on the show, but they also got a brief return of the infamous “Stephen Colbert” character who he played for so many years on Comedy Central.
It was pretty easy to figure out what made audiences so excited about seeing Jon in the pre-taped segment that you can see below, and it’s the simple nostalgia of it all. Plus, the old spitting-water gag never really gets old, even if you’re talking about something as simple as Donald Trump running for President. Somehow, it’s still funny, and we don’t mind seeing it several times over.
From here, we get the rebirth of the famed Colbert character, and he has apparently been living with Stewart for some time in a cabin in the middle of the woods. He eventually turns up in the studio, and provides the audience the gift of “The Word,” one of the famous “Colbert Report” segments. This was a reminder of how brilliant this was, but it’s also understandable that Colbert wouldn’t want to be him forever. Everything was back as it once was, and that even includes the famed “Wriststrong” bracelet that he famously wore so many times on the show in the past.
Hopefully, you look at this show as a nice little introduction to everything else that could be coming your way this week, as Stephen continues to give you some great live shows in order of the GOP Convention in Cleveland.
