‘Bloodline’ renewed for season 3 on Netflix

BloodlineThe Rayburn family is not going away just yet.

Today, Netflix confirmed that they have renewed “Bloodline,” which hails from creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, for a third season after what we at least presume to be some fairly strong support from viewers. The streaming provider does not release their data in terms of viewership, so we really just have to make some assumptions about it.

In a statement today confirming the news, Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix, had the following to say:

“Todd, Daniel, and Glenn have created a riveting family saga featuring one of the most talented ensembles in the history of television. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for the all-too-human Rayburns.”

This is a series that has been lifted in part so far on its heavy critical reception, so one of the interesting things that could be coming for it the next couple of days are the results of the Emmy nominations. It’ll be interesting to see if it is able to get some love there, but even if not, we do still anticipate that it will have a chance to tell many stories for some time to come. While Netflix has made some cancellations before, we do tend to think of them more as a home for shows that are going to last for a while. When things end, they have a tendency to be on the terms of the showrunners.
