‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 2 spoilers: Nick walks alone in new photo

The second season of “Fear the Walking Dead” looks as though it is coming to AMC with a little more mystery than ever … at least when it is coming to Nick.

The network released today the first photo from the upcoming second half of season 2 (premiering on August 21), and it clearly features this character walking down the middle of the highway alone. After learning about what happened to Celia, Nick decided to go it alone for a little while … though we assume he won’t remain that way forever. While we have a difficult time imagining that he and Madison’s group will link back up immediately, he does have at his disposal a chance to meet other people such as Travis and Chris out there. They seem to be on their own journey, one that will (hopefully) take them a place of understanding for what’s going in Chris’ mind.

While we won’t say that “Fear the Walking Dead” started off with much of a flourish (the first few episodes weren’t particularly exciting in season 1), we do believe that the series became stronger and stronger over time. As a result of that, we have high hopes that the second half will pick up in a big way, and puts a focus on some of the people we truly care about such as Strand and Madison.

The one bummer? Based on the end of the first half of the season, it seems unlikely as though Daniel Salazar is turning up anytime soon.
