‘Mr. Robot’ season 2 spoilers: Why Elliot makes a friend
Friendship is not something that Elliot Anderson on “Mr. Robot” is incredibly accustomed to. Just remember for a moment here the path that he has taken over the course of his life, and some of the demons he battles. Where is there time or stability in order to bring someone else in? He’s disconnected, so even the most menial tasks are at times challenging for him.
Yet, we feel like Elliot could figure it out, at least temporarily, over the course of the coming season. Some of the latest details we have on the upcoming season serve as evidence of that. For example, look at what we’ve got for you below on the July 27 installment entitled “eps2.2_init_1.asec”:
“elliot friends ray, hopes he can help finally delete mr. robot. dom makes a big discovery. darlene wonders whos the bigger threat– fbi or dark army?”
If you missed the casting notice about this Ray character, he will be played by Craig Robinson of “The Office” and “Mr. Robinson” fame. This is exciting, mostly from the vantage point that he is someone known for a very different genre of work. It’s reminiscent of “Breaking Bad” and everything that they did there in between Bob Odenkirk, Lavell Crawford, and many other people. Even Bryan Cranston was to many still best known for his work in a sitcom.
As for what’s happening with Darlene in this episode, the clarity in which we look at this is that it further accentuates the idea that law enforcement will have a larger role in this season. It makes sense, given the scale of Elliot’s operation.
