‘The Flash’ season 3: Should we worry over Wells, Joe West, or anyone else?
One of the article themes we’ve been doing the past few days addresses an inevitability on TV shows: Character death. It happens often these days, and it infected the DC Universe on The CW in multiple ways. Not only did we lose Laurel Lance on “Arrow,” but Barry Allen’s father Henry died on “The Flash.” Sure, it turns out that Earth-3 Henry is actually Jay Garrick, but that’s not quite the same.
While there is always a chance for dead characters to return here on other Earths, it’s not the same. What we’re most interested in right now is who among the Earth-1 characters could be in grave jeopardy.
Joe West – Hey, the show has killed off two biological parents of Barry. It’s not beyond them to take away an adoptive one. Also, this death would hit Iris, and maybe bring the two even closer in their grief. Hopefully it doesn’t happen, but you never know.
Harrison Wells – It gets harder and harder overtime to determine his role. Given that Earth-1 Wells is dead and Earth-2 Wells’ work is done (for now), what else is there to do? One fear for Barry should be that Earth-1 Wells somehow resurfaces due to Flashpoint.
Cisco Ramon – If the show really want to kick its fans when they’re down, getting rid of the heart and soul is the way to do it. Maybe this could happen eventually; however, they’ve already faked us out once with a Cisco death, and he doesn’t know his powers well enough yet. We have a little fear, but it doesn’t feel like time.
Caitlin Snow – In some ways, the Caitlin character feels lost. They don’t want to have her make the complete Killer Frost heel-turn, but giving her love interests has been the meat of her story so far. She’s worthy of something more, but we worry about her being sacrificed for drama.
Jesse – Maybe you’re looking for a way to light a fire under Wells again. Taking away his daughter, horrible as it is, would do that in a big way.
