‘Arrow’ season 5: Who are we most worried about?
The fifth season of “Arrow” is coming up in a matter of months, and it’s following up a season that was probably the saddest of the show’s run to date. After all, the show delivered on bringing a shocking death to the table in killing off Laurel Lance, and we’re left now with Team Arrow in a somewhat mysterious place. Many of the heroes are off doing other things beyond Oliver and Felicity, and while we assume they’ll unify in time, we don’t know when that will be.
Given this is a show where people die, though, it’s fair to say that we have a cause for concern with some of the characters who are still around. Below, we’ve got our take on the five people moving into this season who should be shaking in their boots somewhat.
Lyla – At one point, we were enormously concerned that Diggle was going to die on the show, but we feel like we’ve started to get a little more comfortable with him making it out of this alive since the character has even made his way into some of the comics. As for his wife, we’re not so sure. Single daddy Diggle is something that the show could play with, and while sad, it’s certainly in the realm of possibility.
Quentin – Let’s be clear: We don’t want the only Lance family member to not die at one point to kick the bucket. We’re just worried that he will, since he may still be unhinged in the wake of what happened to Laurel and he is trying to stay afloat. He’s just not the fighter other people are.
Malcolm Merlyn – Let’s be real: This character has been asking to be killed off with some of how he’s been acting. Maybe it’s possible Merlyn makes it to the final season and serves as the final Big Bad, but it’s hard to envision someone like him making it out of this story alive.
Thea – We almost put Roy in here just because we know he’s returning, but given how little we’ve seen of him as of late, we’re not sure what purpose killing him off would serve. Making Oliver the sole survivor of his family, meanwhile, would be something that could potentially push him over the edge and be a catalyst for more shocking things to come.
Every new character – This sounds like a cop-out, but we don’t think any other long-running character is in much danger right now. Killing Felicity would enrage a certain part of the fan base, and there’s no logic to kill Donna given that many fans want to see Felicity go back to her happier self from the early seasons. Meanwhile, why bring in Curtis just to kill him off right now? We’ve already made our feelings on Diggle clear.
