’24: Legacy’ spoilers: Show exec downplays Kiefer Sutherland possibility
Will Kiefer Sutherland eventually turn up on “24: Legacy“? We know that this is something that many people out there would like to see, and it’s fairly easy to understand why when you think about it. He’s enormously popular, he plays an iconic character, and we know that he could be a rather significant ratings bump for the show as it tries to find itself. Also, you have to remember that Sutherland is technically still an executive producer on the show.
So while there is hope that he will appear as Jack Bauer, executive producer Howard Gordon (who floated the possibility at the ATX Television Festival) does want to emphasize that there are no guarantees. As a matter of fact, he basically says so in an interview with Deadline while promoting “Tyrant” for FX:
“Let me be clear, there’s no plans at the moment; I think it’s just sort of a possibility downstream reflecting just my own personal fantasy (laughs). We haven’t said you’re definitely coming back; it’s just something that I was just musing about [at ATX] and that I think isn’t impossible but there are no plans about it. We have to talk as friends and colleagues about him coming back but he’s doing Designated Survivor, which will keep Kiefer busy.”
In one way, we’d almost prefer that it is not announced in advance in the event that Kiefer does turn up. Can you imagine just how Twitter would explode in the event that he does turn up on the show in the future? It’d make for a heck of a moment.
