Nickelodeon reviving ‘Double Dare’ for San Diego Comic-Con
San Diego Comic-Con typically is a place where people get together to discuss great things past and present, so why not go ahead and throw “Double Dare” into the mix? Clearly someone out there thought this would be a great idea, and we are absolutely not going to be one to argue with them.
Entertainment Weekly reported early Wednesday that Nickelodeon is bringing a live edition of “Double Dare” to the convention center on Friday, July 22 at 9:30 p.m. Pacific time. Original host Marc Summers is also going to be involved, and there will be a few iconic parts of the show itself featured. For those of you who want the opportunity to watch this live, you can do so over on The Splat’s official Facebook page. Here is what Summers had to say to the website:
“Thirty years later, people still stop me on the street every day and tell me playing Double Dare is the one thing they wish they could have done growing up.”
Ultimately, we feel like the continued success and attention surrounding this show is because of the Peter Pan mentality that so many millennials today continue to have, one where you are still so in touch with your childhood and are extremely nostalgic for parts of it. “Double Dare” is something that so many people (us included) loved growing up, and it is one of many nostalgic shows that Nick / The Splat can continue to promote. “Hey Arnold!,” “All That,” and “Legends of the Hidden Temple” are some others from the network that have gotten a little bit of love as of late.
