‘Code Black’ season 2 lands ‘The Grinder’s’ Rob Lowe as series regular
After spending much of his time the past few years working more in the comedy realm, Rob Lowe is back in the world of TV dramas … and a rather notable one at that.
Per TVLine, the star of the great-but-canceled “The Grinder” has signed on to “Code Black” as a new series regular for its second season. He will be playing the role of Colonel Ethan Willis, a doctor coming over from a military hospital who will do his part to bring his brand of medicine over to Angels Memorial. Given how many people do have a tendency to flutter into these doors over the course of a single episode, this is probably a place that can really benefit from whatever help they can get.
Casting Lowe completes what was a desire for the CBS series to cast some other known actor to be a co-lead alongside Marcia Gay Harden, who was arguably the main face of the show during season 1. The hope here is obviously to get a little bit of a ratings boost for the show, and this is certainly a departure from who we’ve known Lowe to be TV-wise recently to be. Yet, all you have to do is look a little bit further back at his resume to be reminded of just how much great stuff he’s been a part of, especially when it comes to dramas.
Ultimately, we’ll see if this is the end of casting news for the second season. Stay tuned…
