Cable ratings: Where ‘Ray Donovan’ season 4, ‘Roadies’ currently stand at Showtime
This past weekend, Showtime gave itself quite a challenge in trying to launch two of their summer shows in “Ray Donovan” and “Roadies” against the monster HBO lineup of “Game of Thrones” (which ran over an hour) and also “Silicon Valley.”
So how did they fare? Well, let’s just say that we’d be putting it kindly to say that the results were mixed.
“Ray Donovan” – The drama scored in total a 0.3 in the 18-49 demographic and 1.11 million viewers. These are both down from the season 3 average, and also the season 3 premiere last year. Then again, it’s hard to draw great numbers given some of the competition out there. We predict that there’ll be a slight uptick when the next new episode airs with lesser competition, even with the July 4 holiday taken into account.
“Roadies” – Meanwhile, the new series from Cameron Crowe got off to a less-than-stellar start (per TV Series Finale), failing to draw more than a 0.1 in the demo and also around 350,000 total viewers. It’s hard to be excited about those numbers, but remember here that this is a new show and it may take some time for viewers to find it, and we hope that the network gives it a little bit of time to both find itself and find an audience.
One other thing to remember is that these shows will probably get significant rises during the week thanks to DVR, repeat airings, streams, and a variety of other measures. Think of these live+same day numbers as a starting-off point for where they will end.
