‘The Bachelorette’ review: Chase McNary, Derek Path tango with JoJo Fletcher in Argentina
Hey, if JoJo Fletcher was ever to appear on “Dancing with the Stars” after Monday night’s new episode of “The Bachelorette,” you know that there would be some people out there who would be claiming “unfair advantage” because of one two-on-one date during the season. Seriously. Rest assured that it would happen.
It’s kind of funny that the best thing that we can say about this “pivotal” group date at the end of the episode is make jokes in relationship to other shows. It almost feels like someone decided on this two-on-one date just because it was so boring, and the producers probably were happy that one of these two was put out of the running here. We can’t imagine either one of them winning, so why not do away with one of them now? Chase stayed and Derek left, which mostly is just sad since we no longer have Jim Halpert as a part of this season of the show.
This elimination came after we say goodbye to someone else in Wells who we legitimately liked, mostly because he seemed like a normal, functional human being who doesn’t spent 24 hours a week in the gym getting ripped and having protein shakes. He was nice, and even a little gun-shy. That’s probably why he was sent home.
As for the group date, the only part of it we’d consider especially entertaining was the part of it that included James Taylor throwing Jordan Rodgers under the bus, feeling as though he is a reasonably inauthentic person. Hey, maybe he’s telling the truth, but JoJo didn’t really buying it and we didn’t expect her to. Poor James — you gotta read the room sometimes! Nobody went home at the rose ceremony, which really just made this episode even more of a snoozer. We lost two non-contenders, and after Hurricane Chad, the show’s now struggling to match that level of intensity. Grade: C.
