‘Ray Donovan’ season 4 premiere put online early by Showtime

Excited to see the season 4 premiere of “Ray Donovan“? If so, you’re going to be rather thankful to the folks at Showtime today decided to make it available to you a little bit early.

Let’s start off here with where you can watch it: On the network’s official site, or over on YouTube. Obviously note that this is a Showtime program, so there’s going to be language and the like. It will be mildly censored for YouTube, but the obligatory content warning has to be there.

As for what you can expect to see in this episode, the official synopsis below gives you a pretty good indicator across the board:

“Ray is in recovery mode in the aftermath of the shootout, striving to reconnect with his family and repair his relationship with Bridget. Meanwhile, Bunchy and Teresa face impending parenthood together as Abby receives a medical diagnosis that threatens to upend the Donovan family. Hiding out in Nevada, Mickey plots a heist as Detective Muncie closes in on his trail. Season premiere.”

As for why Showtime loves to release the premiere episodes of many of their shows online early, it’s ultimately rather easy to figure out and is largely the result of one thing more so than anything else: A desire to get you hooked. They know that they have more than ten episodes still to go in a season, so there’s really not much of a hurry for them to throw out new programs left and right. They can handle giving one away for free if it means that there are some more subscribers as a result.
