Ratings: ‘Person of Interest’ steady entering series finale; ‘America’s Got Talent’ strong, ‘Uncle Buck’ starts well
It’s not often that we can sit here and discuss great ratings for a lineup of television in the summer, but that is precisely what we had on Tuesday! The majority of the major primetime networks had at least something to celebrate.
First, “Person of Interest” scored a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic as it approaches its series finale in one week’s time. We do wish the numbers were somewhat better, but at the same time this is a nice send-off to the show, and we think that they would’ve been slightly better had the show actually aired during the season proper.
Elsewhere, “America’s Got Talent” won the night with a super-impressive 2.5 rating, showing that without “The Bachelorette” around it dominates the schedule easily. Also, we think the decrease in other talent shows on the air helps it tremendously to feel fresh. This rating also helped “Maya & Marty” improved its own rating to a 1.4.
Over on ABC, “To Tell the Truth” averaged a solid 1.1 rating over the two hours it premiered; just remember here for a minute that this was a show that hardly has the most expensive budget in the world. The big surprise to us was seeing “Uncle Buck” premiere to a 1.5 rating, a decent rating for an in-season comedy, let alone one airing in the summer. We’ll see next week whether or not viewers enjoyed the show enough to keep tuning in to it in the next few weeks.
Heck, even on Fox “Hotel Hell” improved to a 0.9 rating.
