‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’: Jeff Probst on first-episode surprise
Sure, “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” may not be airing on CBS until September most likely, but why should we let that stop us from sharing some of the first news about it?
Apparently, something is going to happen really early in the show that is, at least through 32 seasons, unique, and the reactions are going to be interesting according to Jeff Probst. Here’s what he had to say on the subject to Entertainment Weekly:
“We have something happen in the second day of the first episode that has never happened before,” says Probst. “And the Gen Xers react to it with a little bit of concern and fear. And the Millennials are like they’re at a rock concert going ‘Bring it! We’ll take it!’ And that really struck me as, yes, I want to be like you.”
We don’t really know what this is, but we certainly hope over time that the game isn’t solely just framed as “oh, the Gen X people are stuck in their ways.” There’s something interesting about the Millennials in that they are the future generation, but there’s also something about them that can be terrifying … and we say that as a Millennial. We’ve all met a few that aren’t the best example to our generation.
Probst also made it very clear to the website that there is another twist that will in some way involve idols this season, which should make for yet another interesting evolution. We actually liked how they were found in “Kaoh Rong,” even if in the end they didn’t end up having all that much impact on the game.
