‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Prepare to meet younger Cookie, Lucious Lyon

The third season of “Empire” is going to be premiering on CBS a little bit later this fall, and there is one thing that we can say about it right now: You better be prepared to meet some younger versions of two of our most-beloved characters!

According to a new report from TVLine, the show is currently casting versions of Lucious and Cookie Lyon who are significantly younger than their present-day counterparts; specifically, casting notices say that the contenders should be eighteen years old, and with that, they should be able to play even younger in order to ensure that they can tackle the characters for a particular range of time.

Season 3 ended with a lot of craziness, more specifically with a battle between Anika and Rhonda that followed Lucious actually airing the former as a part of a new legal scheme. You have to think that Cookie is going to be none too pleased about this when the show returns, and it will create some more roadblocks that could keep these two at odds. The funny thing is that for a time in season 3, it actually seemed more like we were on the cusp of actually seeing them happy. Alas, think of this as more of a reminder of how happiness in this world can be fleeting.

Of course, we’re going to have some other news when it comes to this show, and casting, as we get so much further into the summer. We still have a ways to go!
