‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, more submit for Emmys; further teases

Dany -When you have a cast as massive as the one for “Game of Thrones,” there is one thing that is immediately clear: There is no lead actor of the bunch. Therefore, what we really have here more than anything else is a case where there are a bevy of people submitting for Emmy consideration as supporting, and there are as a result of this likely only a couple who will get a nomination in the end.

Earlier this week, the official Emmy ballots were released, and we finally got a chance to see some of the submissions. For Best Supporting Actor this year, voters can select Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, which is a rather small group of performers all things considered. For Supporting Actress, the list is a little more robust: Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Carice van Houten, and Maisie Williams. We’re a little surprised to see that neither HBO nor Gwendoline Christie decided to submit her for this category, given that Brienne has shown tremendous growth this season and we figure she was at least worthy of a spot on the ballot.

What may also be of interest to some people out there is that thanks to the writing submission from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for “Battle of the Bastards” (airing Sunday), we got a brief episode description: “Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted.” Meanwhile, we got this thanks to the costume submission for the upcoming finale entitled “The Winds of Winter” airing later this month: “Cersei awaits her trial.”

The latter may be in the end the more interesting of the two teases, largely because we wonder just how drastic she may be willing to take things in the event she realizes she cannot win … and whether or not her recent investigation could have something to do with the Mad King.
