NBC’s ‘The Voice’ alum Christina Grimmie shot three times after concert, in critical condition
There’s some absolutely terrible news coming out of Orlando on Friday night. Longtime YouTube singing sensation Christina Grimmie, best known recently for being a finalist on “The Voice,” has been hospitalized in critical condition after being shot three times in a VIP area after a concert in Orlando.
According to USA Today, the unidentified man approached Grimmie (who was at the area with the band Before You Exit) and fired at her before her brother managed to tackle him. The shooter then took his own life. Further details as to the shooter’s identity or possible motive are currently unclear, but this certainly is a horrifying situation and you have hope that that Grimmie and her family manage to come out of it okay.
Since appearing on “The Voice,” Christina has recorded new music, has down some promotional work for the show, and has also done a few fashion segments here and there. She is one of the show’s more notable alumni, which is what has afforded her the opportunity to be able to tour with other artists and stay a part of the industry. Even earlier today, Grimmie posted a video encouraging fans to come out. There are of course larger questions worth getting into regarding screening attendees to these sort of events and much more when details start to come out about how this terrible incident occurred and why; however, now is not really the time to get further into that subject.
If you’re a fan, the best thing that you can continue to do is show support on Twitter and try to send as many positive vibes her way as possible. #PrayForChristina is trending, and you can see many tributes there from across the YouTuber and fan community.
Our thoughts go out to Christina and her family during what has to be an impossibly difficult time. Let’s hope that she has a speedy recovery, and can be out performing more in the near future.
