‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 7 spoilers: First look at mail mystery in ‘Post Mortem’

The seventh season of “Rizzoli & Isles” is now underway, and through two episodes, we’ve seen a couple of things unfold: The end of Alice Sands as a significant threat in Jane Rizzoli’s life, and also a brain injury to Maura Isles that could have her thinking about her future in a way that she hasn’t before now.

This brings us to “Post Mortem,” the upcoming June 20 episode that could continue along the latter story. The synopsis below also gives you a sense of Korsak screwing up Kiki’s birthday, and a murder case that could involve the postal service:

“When a mailman is killed, the team must work with a brash, eccentric Postal Inspector, who believes the mailman’s murder is part of a larger conspiracy. Maura continues to struggle with the ramifications of her injury and Angela intervenes when she discovers Korsak has gotten Kiki (guest star Christina Chang) a terrible birthday present.”

We don’t necessarily want to be the bearer of bad news within these articles, but something that we do have to be very much aware of at this particular point in time is the notion that there are going to be just a small handful of episodes left after this one before we get to the series finale. Therefore, a question we’re going to continue wondering is how each episode will bring us to that endgame. We are fine with some case-of-the-week plotlines, but we need something else in there, as well, with more of a long-term impact. In addressing Maura’s injury, “Post Mortem” is at least bringing us closer to this place.
