‘Homeland’ season 6 will feature female President-elect
We’ve already heard that the upcoming sixth season of “Homeland” is going to be set in that weird period of time in the election cycle, one where the sitting President is a lame duck and you are effectively waiting to see the next person take over.
So just who is the President-Elect going to be? Speaking at a Vanity Fair event, star Claire Danes made it clear that the character would be a woman. Is this meant to represent Hillary Clinton? Not necessarily. According to Variety, the character being devised is going to contain elements of many different candidates from the past year, including Donald Trump. We can only imagine what the behavior patterns of this person could end up being!
Based on other things that we’ve heard about this season, it is going to be very different than any we’ve seen as of late. After all, it is being filmed in New York, marking a return to America for the first time in years; also, it is going to be the first season to not air in the fall. The story is being pushed until early next year, which removes it from this Golden Globes cycle but will still have it eligible for the Emmys down the road.
Ultimately, it’s hard to comment too much on this story decision without actually seeing the show. We just know that ever since their redemption tour in season 4, “Homeland” has given us a wide array of reasons to trust their judgment.
