‘Quantico’ season 2 adds ‘Looking’ alum in major role

Quantico -The second season of “Quantico” may not be airing on ABC until the fall, but it’s never too early to start sharing some of the first bit of casting intel!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Looking” actor Russell Tovey has been booked to play a character named Harry Doyle, someone who is smart, charming, and is “just as likely to seduce your husband as he is to pick his pocket when it’s over.” He will be a series regular, so there’s no need to worry about his appearance being more or less just a flash in the pan.

What makes Tovey’s appearance even more interesting here is that per showrunner Josh Safran, the part was created with him in mind:

“Ever since being introduced to him in The History Boys 10 years ago, I’ve hoped to work with Russell. It’s been an honor for the writers and myself to be able to create this role specifically for him.”

The second season of “Quantico” will begin filming this summer, and will return to ABC on Sunday nights most likely in September. The cliffhanger revolved around Alex Parrish needing to make a key decision, and we’re already starting to feel that this will end with her becoming more of a part of the CIA after spending the first season with the FBI.

We also imagine that this is far from the only bit of casting news we’re going to have on the second season. More will be announced in the weeks / months ahead.
