ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 6: On the potential Mellie, Cyrus rivalry ahead
It’s interesting in some ways just how much “Scandal” keeps things in the family. Out of all of the people in the political world, who would’ve thought that three out of the four major players for the Presidential election would be characters who have been around for several seasons now? Mellie is working with Jake Ballard, while Vargas (the one reasonably new characters) is working alongside Cyrus.
If there is one thing that we would be the most nervous about if we were Mellie, it is that Cyrus would pass around some dirt on her to the American public. However, at the same time, she can definitely spread the dirt on him! It’s an interesting back-and-forth, but as Bellamy Young suggests to Entertainment Weekly, it’s possible that you may not see the two attack each other on the campaign trail as you would expect:
“They know so much dirt on each other … In some ways, it neutralizes it, and in some ways, it turns up the heat. All opportunities are there. I know the game will be a mine field.”
Unfortunately, one of the real problems here above all else is that we’re so far away that it is still not entirely clear precisely how long we’re going to have to wait to see the next season air. By the time the sixth season of the show premieres on ABC, the Presidential election will be over in real life. Will there still be an appetite for all of this given how exhausting this season has become?
