‘Empire’ season 3 wishlist: Survivors, songs, and more Andre
On Wednesday night, “Empire” ended its second season with a finale that you can definitely describe as crazy and then some, thanks to the wide array of nutty twists that were thrown out there. It turns out that Lucious has a half-brother, that Jamal is alive, and that it’s certainly possible that either Rhonda, Anika, or both of them are dead after it was revealed officially that Boo Boo Kitty is responsible for putting Rhonda down at the bottom of the stairs.
Now, we start to look more at where this show can go from here, and that is what this curated wishlist is all about! There are no spoilers ahead, so wipe your brain of those fears; instead, it’s more about speculation.
1. Keep both Rhonda and Anika alive – It may sound stupid and like a cop-out, but this effectively a musical soap opera, and to us it’s so much more interesting to have them both miraculously survive (albeit with a broken bone or two) and then find new ways to target and go after each other. Why not create some sort of crazy revenge plot? There are so many ways to spice things up and make them fun with these characters, and we feel ultimately like the more that this show embraces the crazy (such as these two probably trying to murder each other the next time they are in the same room), the better off we will be.
2. Time for some new music – We’ve really heard enough about Lucious and his painful past at this point, at least in the studio. Maybe you give him something more, or you get the Lyon family something to be a little bit more involved. One way or another, this show could use a fresh coat of paint to get some music that is identifiable for the season. You gotta keep things fresh!
3. More Andre – We wanted more of him in the final episodes of the season, which to us were much heavier on Hakeem and Jamal.
4. The Cookie – Lucious aftermath – Given that these two were getting closer again, you have to think she’s gonna be fuming still about Lucious marrying Anika, regardless of what the reasoning for it may be. That has potential to be delicious and then some.
