ABC’s ‘Castle’ series finale: What are ratings expectations for Stana Katic – Nathan Fillion send-off?
Since the ratings are in part one of the reasons why headlines around “Castle” exploded so many weeks ago, it only makes sense that we would talk about them further in the context of Monday night’s series finale.
Will the cancellation of the show lift the numbers in some way? We have to assume so, given that most recent episodes have hovered somewhere around a 1.0 or a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The news about Stana Katic’s imminent departure did not have any real impact on the past few episodes of the show, and we assume the reason for that was that Beckett fans were still for the most part interested in seeing the story through.
Now, most of these people can sit back and enjoy the final episode, knowing that there is going to be some sort of resolution, and it will be the end of the story for all of the major characters together as a group.
Ratings-wise, in the end we anticipate somewhere around a 1.2 or a 1.3 for the episode. We don’t necessarily think that there will be a huge spike, just because you’d have to get a whole lot of people back who haven’t watched the show live in over a year. Also, there has not really been any time at all for ABC to promote the final episode as such. Unless you’re following the headlines (which is really just a small percentage of the overall viewership), you’re probably not going to know that this is the last episode of the show.

The only thing we know for sure tomorrow we will see a couple of polls coming out. One asking what did you think of the finale ending, no matter how good it was it will still be bad. Only because it the finale. The next question will be what did you think of the finale season. The only answer to that is it should of never happened. Season 7 should of been the last, and the brand name of ABC will be forever tarnished, because of all the things that went on this season. From the on set problems with to two leads and the poor story line and show running. I for one will miss the best show ABC ever had.

So here is my ending: (Last 2 minutes of the show) Something catastrophic happened – like an explosion or a fire. If the show had continued, Kate would die; however, since we know this is the last Castle, the scene becomes a hospital room with Kate and Rick in separate beds, surrounded by the entire cast, talking about hoe lucky they were to survive and get rid of LockSet. Last moment is Kate and Rick reaching out to each other, touching, fade to black.
