‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3, episode 3 video: Christian Camargo on playing Dracula

While you have not necessarily seen a whole lot of Christian Camargo as of yet on Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful,” you should be very much aware that this is something that is going to be changing over the course of the coming weeks. We’re going to see the character slowly have more and more of a role on the third season, and that excites us greatly given that we know the extent of Christian’s abilities. Only on this show do we get to see the famed Ice Truck Killer from “Dexter” slowly transform his way into being a blood-sucking vampire.

In the video below, you can see Christian discuss what it was like first being approached about doing the show, and also how he didn’t necessarily learn right away that he was going to be playing Dracula. When he learned about the character twist, he was more than excited to dive in to who will surely be a key cog in the story this season.

There are a few creepy scenes displayed below, but for this character in particular, it’s better to take a wait-and-see approach. With “Penny Dreadful,” one of the challenges is always the show trying to find new and innovative ways to use these classic Gothic characters. Dracula has been done to death and beyond, but there are some new twists and turns that can be sorted out, and this is clearly what John Logan and the writers are trying to do.
