Does ‘Agent Carter’ season 3 have a shot at Netflix?
If you consider yourself a major fan of “Agent Carter,” we definitely feel your pain right now. ABC has canceled the Hayley Atwell series after two seasons, and given her importance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (let alone SHIELD), it’s a real disappointment. The show has an epic fanbase and for good reason; we may even go out on a limb and say that for us, season 2 was even better than the first go-around.
So is there any path now to save the show? We don’t necessarily think that there is any clear path on traditional network TV, mostly because this show has a very international fan following, and in all honesty, the live numbers just weren’t cutting it.
As for other potential homes, Netflix remains the obvious choice, and if we did personally have our say, this is who we would go with. They’ve already got the rights to pretty much the entire Marvel live-action TV library, and while she doesn’t fit with what they are doing with “The Defenders” and that whole crew, they do have the worldwide distribution that would peak fans’ interest.
If you do want to get “Agent Carter” on Netflix, the first thing that we can suggest for you is to simple write and tweet to Netflix on social media; or, watch their other Netflix programming in order to make it all the clearer. Strangely, “Agent Carter” itself isn’t even on the service, and that may be the biggest roadblock because of streaming rights and whatnot.
Still, never say never, and this is a show that deserves to have some sort of a future, even if it is a shortened season due to Atwell’s new gig on ABC’s “Conviction” series.
