‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 finale video: Regina learns of Hook’s return

This past episode of “Once Upon a Time” ranged from tragic to bittersweet, depending on who you are and who you happen to root for. We lost Robin Hood as Hades used the crystals to take him away from Regina once and for all, but thanks to the villain’s brother Zeus, we did happen to get Captain Hook back in Storybrooke, alive and ready to take on what is coming next.

So what is coming next? That’s an interesting question, given that “Last Rites” really could have functioned as the finale, had producers decided it be so. Yet, there are two episodes coming to close off season 5 on Sunday, and the sneak peek below (via Entertainment Weekly) signals that Regina is going to have to brace herself over the news that Hook is in fact back from the dead.

If this did not occur at the same time as her own true love’s death, maybe she’d feel different. However, this may feel like fate is slapping her in the face yet again, and she cannot have the happy ending she so desperately seeks even if there are many other people who do. She probably feels like the universe is favoring Emma even more than ever, and this could cause her to give up the notion of being good and trying to do the right thing.

Ultimately, we’ll have a chance to learn one way or another what happens to Regina. This is far from the last teaser we’re going to have on the show, so check back later this weekend for much more!
